Dishing up Texas Hospitality with a German Twist for Decades
Stuck between Round Rock and a weird place called Austin, Pflugerville is pfun and pfamily pfriendly! Pfolks in Pflugerville love their quirky city’s unusual name and play it up with events like the Pflugerville Spring Pfling and the Pflugerville Pfall Chili Pfest! But P-ville is about more than pfun wordplay, this is a neighborhood that manages to be both up-and-coming and old world at the same time. Dishing up Texas hospitality with a German twist for decades, central Texans are flocking to Pflugerville for it’s quality schools, low cost of living and convenient location just north of Austin.
Originally settled by a German family by the name of Pfluger, this heavily German influenced Texas town has blossomed into a hot spot that doesn’t have to rely on neighboring Austin for entertainment or services. The area has grown into a city of it’s own and is well served by hospitals, shopping districts, schools and recreational areas.
In fact, Austinites are going to Pflugerville for fun these days. In addition to having what some might say are the best kolaches in Texas, Pflugerville has a number of outstanding recreational areas. Most frequented is Lake Pflugerville itself. Created in 2005 as a water reservoir and recreational area for the residents of Pflugerville, Lake Pflugerville is gaining popularity among all central Texans as a quiet spot for fishing, hiking and birdwatching.
Locals with families all over the central Texas area know that Pflugerville is the place to go with kids. Austin’s Park in Pflugerville is the area’s largest amusement center with games, go-carts, rock walls, video games and unlimited buffets all for one entrance price. Even adults can act like kids with classic arcade games and excellent food.
Though it is flush with fun, Pflugervillians do get down to business. Only 15 miles north of downtown Austin, residents of Pflugerville have an easy daily commute if they work in the city. In 2006, the central Texas tollway system was expanded, allowing for an even smoother ride. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is located only 30 minutes away and is an easy straight shot down Highway 45.
Pflugerville also boasts some of the best public schools in the area. Pflugerville and Hendrickson are the district’s public High Schools and are highly rated both in academics and indicators such as student to teacher ratios. Pflugerville is also home to Harmony Science Academy, one of the countries top rated science charter schools.
Well served by recreation, entertainment, highways, hospitals and schools, Pflugerville is an excellent location to settle in central Texas. It’s German, Texan and all about keeping Pflugerville pfunky!
