It’s Better in Buda
Buda is a rapidly growing bedroom community in Hays County outside of Austin, Texas. Buda has become an exceedingly popular destination for young families and professionals drawn to central Texas by the job market, culture and friendly citizens. In fact, the city of Buda has almost tripled in size since the year 2000 and with this growth has come an avalanche of new businesses and services in the area.
Commercial development in the I-35 corridor continues at a fast pace. In the Buda area stores such as Cabelaís sporting goods and HEB grocery are at the heart of this development. Thriving businesses like these have led to an increase in tax revenue and this in turn has contributed to the revitalization of Old Town Buda and Main Street. Main Street Buda is straight out the first half of the 20th century. Small shops line the streets where cars can pull right up to the shop fronts to park. Here you will find soda shops, antique stores and restaurants all within easy walking distance of each other and historic city hall. The tight-knit community spirit of small town Buda still remains and is celebrated in events like the Weiner dog races which are organized in April every year by the Lions Club. The community still gathers every Friday night as well to watch high school football and support their young citizens.
Buda is a community on the rise that is eager to take advantage of new business opportunities. In 2009, Buda got in on the film industry boom in central Texas. Following in the steps of communities like Pflugerville where Friday Night Lights is filmed, Buda became a part of the Film Friendly Texas Program in hopes of bringing new productions to the city. Buda is also home to several large employers including US Foodservice, Namasco Steel and Capitol Excavation.
